Base credit for doll
We hadn't even been on the airship very long. I was huddled against the rail looking at the floor. I hated flying. The bastard Cleric knew it too. He had arranged this trip knowing full well that I trusted trains, or even the sea more than the flying contraptions.
"How you holding up?"
Glancing up I saw one of the other members of our little party. The damn archer had a smug grin on his face, part of me wanted to deck him, but I didn't think I'd be able to stand long enough. He knelt next to me holding out a vial. "You know that Elf mix makes me sick." I was about to push the bottle away when I saw Brother Ericks pass, heading to where the warriors were sitting around talking.
"This isn't Elf wine. Though it is alcohol. It should help numb you Mistress thief." He grinned. "And if the others give you hell about this. I do have a powder we can put in their food tonight. It will make them sick for a day."
"We have four on the ship."
"Exactly." The Elf smiled brightly. "Now drink up. It will make you feel better."
I shook my head and took the drink. "That I highly doubt. After all, we're on an airship, heading to my home country, where if I'm caught by the Thieves' guild, I'll be tortured, then executed, and why? So that we can get the princess of your homeland back safe and sound. Oh yeah, I feel better already." I tipped it back, draining it all. Coughing I hand him back the vial.
"Easy there, it will take a few minutes to work." He sat down, leaning against the rail I was clinging to. "You really don't like flying do you? Personally, I'd rather ride Dragon back, but the warriors are ex Dragon Slayers. I don't think that would have helped Oak Wind any to call his kin to transport us."
"I just hate these flying contraptions. I can't escape on them. It's the whole principal of the thing. After all, I'm a thief. I'm not going to hide it now. Why would I?"
"Because there is something else you hide from the others. I saw it when we first met."
Did he figure out I'm not human? I've been trying so hard to pull off the human look.
"I caught glimmer in your eyes. Don't worry I won't tell them as long as I know you can keep control of it."
Looking at him I could tell that he was serious. "I've been this way the last three months. This will be the only time I won't be able to disappear into the woods."
"What animal?"
"A small fox. I wouldn't be a threat to the others. They might be a threat to me." I don't know why I confided in him. Maybe because I was tired of sharing the secret alone. He gave a faint smile.
"If you have to change, I'll hide you. I'm the only one with a separate room. You can hide there. I have a falcon with me. I'll send it out to get you fresh meat."

"I can eat fruit as long as it's not too sweet. Seriously, I don't want to risk anyone else knowing." The wind on the deck started to pick up a little. I shivered and he slipped off his cloak, wrapping it over my shoulders.
